Support for new parents
I specialise in providing support to new parents. Becoming a parent is a profound emotional journey and a significant life transition. Building an early connection with your baby helps them feel safe, secure, and grounded – laying a stable foundation for the rest of their lives. However, this transition can also feel overwhelming, and it is completely normal to experience moments of doubt, exhaustion, or distress along the way.

I can help when you:
- Are caring for an unsettled baby and feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or disconnected.
- Feel like you are going through the motions or coping, but struggling to find joy or build the emotional bond you hoped for.
- Worry that your own stress or anxiety might be affecting your baby.
- Find it challenging to stay calm or regulate your own emotions when your baby is crying.
- Want to understand how your own well-being influences your baby’s sense of safety and secure attachment.
How I work:
My focus is on supporting you, because caring for your own emotional well-being is where a strong, healthy connection with your baby begins. I offer a gentle, non-judgmental space for you to share what parenthood feels like right now, as well as space to reflect on how your own past experiences may be shaping your journey today. Together, we will explore what feels supportive, gently untangle what isn’t, and help you build the quiet self-confidence to feel more present and connected with your baby.
Services offered:
A free, initial 20 minute video call to think about what support you might need and whether therapy with me feels right for you.
A one-off home visit of 50 minutes (within the Hertford/Ware area) to discuss with me about what supports you as a parent to bond with your baby. This may be all you need, or may be the initial step to starting more long-term emotional support. You can take some time after the first visit to decide if and how you would like to move forward.
Home or online therapy sessions for 50 minutes at the same time every week. An opportunity for deeper exploration and support at a time that suits you.
In person therapy sessions held at the same time each week at the Wellbeing Centre in Hertford. These take place without your baby and provide a calm, quiet space where you can speak freely, take a moment to breathe and gently process the challenges you are experiencing.
